According to Skanska.com, the Center for Interdisciplinary Engineering Medicine
and Applied Sciences (CIEMAS) is a state-of-the-art research facility providing
laboratory, clean room, Vivarium and office space for disciplines ranging from
Biomedical Engineering, Photonics and Communication, High Performance Computing
and Microfabrication. The facility will include a conference center and other
support facilities. It will be situated in relationship to the current engineering
buildings to create a plaza for the Pratt School of Engineering.

According to Skanska.com, the mall features a central, two-level building
with an open-air, "main street" shopping area and five separate retail buildings,
collectively known as the Promenade. Extensive paving and landscaping created
a pedestrian retail andrestaurant area that leads shoppers from the cinema
into the main building. The detailed brick exterior is reminiscent of the Durham
tobacco warehouse district. The main corridor features skylights and clerestory
glass, detailed handrailing and natural stone flooring, designed to give shoppers
the feeling they are strolling along the streets of old Durham.
